Post Falls, Idaho, continues to experience strong demand for self-storage, and a major new project is now underway to meet that need. Steel Structures America Inc., based in Post Falls, has started construction on the first phase of a large self-storage complex located near the intersection of Highway 41 and Horsehaven Avenue. The first phase will feature eight buildings totaling 70,000 square feet of storage space, representing an estimated $4.5 million investment. Once complete, the project will expand to 10 buildings with a total capacity of 170,000 square feet. Steel Structures America is serving as its own general contractor, and the final two buildings are expected to break ground later this year.
The new development will operate under the Giant Storage brand, owned by brothers Justin and Shawn Sternberg. In addition to the Post Falls site, the Sternbergs currently operate Giant Storage facilities in Spokane Valley, Washington; Sagle, Idaho; and Monument, Colorado. Since entering the self-storage industry in 1997, they have watched demand increase nearly every year, particularly in recent years where units often fill to capacity as soon as construction is complete.
With most facilities in Kootenai County already full, the Giant Storage expansion highlights the growing need for additional storage options across the Inland Northwest. As more people relocate to the area and the housing market continues to grow, this project is positioned to provide much-needed capacity while reinforcing the long-term strength of the regional self-storage industry.
